Summary – Since the last status report, we’ve made considerable progress. Through June and July we worked frantically to complete the new Akvo web site and set our pilot projects up. In August we had a very successful launch of the site at World Water Week 2008 in Stockholm.

It was very exciting for us to see that more than Euro 70,000 of funds for field projects appeared even before we launched Akvo at World Water Week, and from quite unexpected sources too. You can learn more about that here and here.

Overall we managed to do nearly everything we set out to do. Specifically we achieved all of our top priorities. We:

  • launched Akvo’s new web site at World Water Week
  • completed the Akvo RSR system well in time for its formal launch
  • signed up more than the expected 25 pilot projects
  • signed up more than 40 organisations for the pilot projects
  • closed significant funding for the continued operation of Akvo
  • communicated our progress well

We are now setting new goals for the autumn and early winter and we will be talking about these in the coming weeks, describing what we hope to achieve before the end of the year.

You will notice that most of the progress bars are full, or near full, which means that we achieved most of our priorities for this period.

Note: That though the progress bar for Akvopedia, for example, is full, it doesn’t mean that the Akvopedia is complete. It simply means we achieved what we wanted to achieve for the Akvopedia this period.
