Phylis is responsible for the financial, administrative and human resource operations of the Akvo East Africa hub. She helps manage the hub’s annual budget, day to day financial transactions and ensures compliance to the local legal operating requirements and tax laws. She also manages the day to day office administration, and is also responsible for HR management in the matters of payroll, compliance to Kenyan Labour laws as well as employment tax regulations.
Phylis also assists with project activities for our partners in East Africa. In this role she helps train and support local partners on Akvo RSR and works with partners to create and update projects online.Prior to joining Akvo, Phylis worked as a procurement assistant for the Mavuno Church, where she had a range of procurement and finance responsibilities and also as a sales representative at the National Bank of Kenya. She has 14 years experience with various organisations in Kenya, having held roles in Administration, Finance, Human Resource, Sales & Marketing and Customer Service. Phylis holds a diploma in Information Systems from IMIS, a diploma in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (Human Resource) from Kenya Methodist University.
