For the fourth consecutive year, Akvo is involved with the toilet blocks at the De Parade theatre festival in the Netherlands. The Parade’s a major summertime event that stages through four Dutch cities – Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Amsterdam – attracting at least 250,000 visitors.

Last year our partner Get it Done came up with the brilliant GIVASHIT concept, challenging visitors to “GIVASHIT” and make a donation each time they visit the toilet. In the four Dutch cities which De Parade will visit this year, we aim to raise a record 50,000 Euro, 25% more than last year. The money will support development projects in some of the poorest parts of the world, three of which are on the Akvo site:

Mobiles against Malaria, in Mali.
Fair trade for beekeepers , in Zambia.
Safe drinking water for villagers , in Bangladesh.

Last Friday the festival opened for the public in Rotterdam, and the first official donations were made. The special GIVASHIT website can be visited by clicking the image below.
