ENPHO with support from Nepal WASH Alliance (NWA) organized seven days mason training for local technician in coordination with Nepal WASH Alliance member organizations Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH), Lumanti Support Group for Shelter and Lutheran World Federation (LWF) from 26th September to 2nd October 2012 at Birendranagar, Surkhet.
All together 25 participants including four women from five different districts, Gorkha, Chitwan, Banke, Surkhet and Dailekh participated the training program and all participants were from NWA project intervention areas. The seven days training was facilitated by expert team from NEWAH, ENPHO, DDC and RVWRMP technician. The sessions were designed as theoretical class followed by hands on practical in field. Four different types of toilets including one dry ecosan toilet were built during training in four different poor houses. “I have gained lots of technical knowledge on toilet construction and the most interesting part of the training is I learned and build dry ecosan toilet which I never heard about it before coming in training”- said one participant from Birendranagar, Surkhet. Finally the training program was completed in 2nd October after certificate distribution from Mr. Yamlal Dhakal, chief executive officer, Birendranagar Municipality and closing remarks from Omdatta Regmi, Engineer, District Technical Office, Surkhet.
