Within the framework of Joint Programme's effort to improve healthcare system in the most vulnerable districts of Karakalpakstan, as well as address the pressing issue of lung health, WHO is promoting the Practical Approach to Lung Health (PAL) strategy among the general pracitioners and nurses. The goal of this effort is to train 170 general practitioners and 120 nurses in rural areas in PAL strategy. One of the current activities within this particular component is preparing a pool of qualified trainers in PAL strategy, through training of trainers (TOT) on various aspects, such as adult teaching methodology. 12 experienced PAL trainers are undergoing this TOT, and it is expected that such capacity-building activities will improve the effectiveness of PAL strategy implementation.
