Outreach work is the key element in effective HIV prevention activities, targeted to most-at-risk populations (MARPs). NGO “Intilish” as the Project sub-recipient carries out prevention activities among MARPs, including outreach work, dissemination of informational-educational materials and referral to medical and social services.

Recent training, aimed to enhance capacities of specialists in effective project implementation, empowered participants with more thorough knowledge in the areas of HIV prevention and harm reduction services, specifics of working with vulnerable populations, methods of presenting information to the target groups.

Discussion of practical skills for carrying out successful outreach work raised particular interest among training participants. Interactive role plays, modeling “real life” outreach work and challenges, which outreach workers face in their daily work, enabled thorough understanding of professional specifics.

And of course, training participants had opportunity to share knowledge and experience, as well as raise pressing issues and together seek solutions.

The trained specialists will reach out to most-at-risk populations with HIV prevention services in 8 regions of Uzbekistan.
