Planning, monitoring, evaluation & learning (PMEL) specialist, Amsterdam


Anita is a Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) specialist. She is responsible for coordinating PMEL of the Watershed – Empowering Citizens Strategic Partnership. In this programme, Akvo partners with IRC, Simavi and Wetlands International to build capacities of civil society organisations in evidence-based lobbying and advocacy for sustainable and inclusive water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services. Anita also coordinates the development of Akvo’s PMEL support services, and supports partners in the development of Theories of Change, monitoring frameworks, and on M&E methodologies.

Anita has twenty years work experience in international development, as gender advisor (DGIS – Sri Lanka), programme manager (SNV – Ethiopia and Nicaragua), organisational development advisor (SNV – Nicaragua), senior PMEL advisor (SNV – Nicaragua and the Netherlands), coordinator introduction programme for advisors (SNV – worldwide), and as researcher on human trafficking (International Organisation for Migration – Indonesia). She has worked in the sectors WASH, Agriculture and Renewable Energy.

Growing up, Anita lived in Pakistan, Kenya, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mozambique and Swaziland. Anita has a Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Leiden. She is based in Amsterdam.
