Walter van Opzeeland

East Africa hub manager, Nairobi

Walter is a specialist in ICT for Development with over ten years experience in East Africa. He completed a Masters in Business Administration, specialising in ICT, and a postgraduate degree in Journalism. After graduating he worked as an international ICT project manager at IBM and AT&T in the Netherlands. In 2003 he moved to Kenya to work as a communications officer for the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Nairobi. Later he became a freelance project and communications manager in East and Central Africa. He did assignments for various international organisations in agriculture, water, health and emergency relief (DR Congo). Walter is currently manager of the Akvo Kenya hub and responsible for partnership development and operations in the east, central and Southern Africa region.
